Prof. Dianguo XU received M. S. and Ph. D. degree from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), Harbin, China, in 1984 and 1989, respectively, all in Electrical Engineering. In 1984, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology as an assistant professor. He became a lecturer and associate professor in 1987 and 1990, respectively. Since 1994, he has been a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology. He was the Department Head from 1992 to 1998, Dean of School of Electrical Engineering and Automation from 1998 to 2010. Now, he is the vice president of HIT.

Prof. Xu is a Fellow of IEEE, the Chair of IEEE Harbin Section, and the Associate Editors of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, and IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics. He is also the vice president of China Electrotechnical Society (CES) (2015-2020) and China Power Supply Society (CPSS) (2013-2017). He is the general chair of ITEC AP 2017 and ICEMS 2019, and the technical program chair of IEEE VPPC 2008 and IPEMC 2012-ECCE Asia.

Prof. Xu has authored and co-authored 5 books, published over 600 technical papers, and holds 82 Chinese patents. His research interests include ac motor drives, motion control, power electronics converter-based power system, appliance intelligent control, wireless power transmission, and lighting electronics etc. He was awarded as Delta Scholar in 2006, and received IEEE IAS Outstanding Achievement Award. He has received one outstanding paper award and seven best paper awards from international journal and international conferences.
